August may officially be the last month of summer, school gear may be all over the stores, but that doesn’t mean that summer events are over just yet, especially in Downtown Toms River. This month there’s plenty to check out. From the 5th Annual Art in the Park, a gourmet coffee shop that’s the perfect complement to a summer stroll, and a brand new luxury apartment complex.

Huddy Park Welcomes the 5th Annual Art in the Park

For the 5th year, the Toms River Artist Community will present that Annual Art in the Park on Saturday, August 19th from 11am – 5pm in Historic Huddy Park. This is your chance to view (and purchase) original and unique artwork created by local artists. Art will include paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, digital art, metal, and mixed media – talk about a variety!

While you’re strolling through the park (it is art in the park after all), enjoy live music, crafts, interactive activities, and of course… food from a number of vendors. Art in the Park is an opportunity to get your family out and about and introduce them to a wide array of original visual art, music, poetry, and dance, without having to travel to the MET. Turns out Downtown Toms River is a hub for artistic talent.

To add to the fun, all art on display will be judged by a professional panel with the 1st place winner receiving $1,000, $500 to 2nd place, and $250 to 3rd place. (If you happen to be a local artist, apply by August 4th to showcase your art and take your chance at winning the grand prize). There will also be an Honorable Mention Certificate for None Juried Art, which will include pieces created by poets, crafters, authors, and performing artists.

Featured Downtown Toms River Business: Café Enigma

When you’re in need of a delicious cup of coffee, do not go to that chain (you know who we’re talking about), instead visit Café Enigma (216 Main Street, Toms River 732-504-7653), where they serve a full menu of gourmet (both warm and cold) drinks using only the freshest, highest quality of coffee from around the world.
