When the tourists go away, the Jersey Shore and its communities continue to provide its residents with fun, affordable and new things to do. In the coming months, we will be highlighting these happenings for our fans and shedding some light on what is going on in our own backyards.

Event: Moonlight Hike
Location: Island Beach State Park (meet at the Nature Center)

Cost: $5 Per Person
Description: Join the natural educators on a fantastic night time hike to discover what is awake while most are asleep. Visitors are taken down a long trail to see all kinds of different plant and animal life. The hike will end on the beach with roasted marshmallows and a bonfire. A registered adult must accompany minors.

Event: Family Movie Night featuring Captain America The Winter Soldier
Location: Brick Township Civic Plaza

Description: The Brick Township Recreation Department is proud to host a Family Movie Night featuring Captain America The Winter Soldier at the Civic Plaza. Each child will receive a free small water bottle and popcorn will also be available. Kids can bring pillows and blankets for floor seating. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Event: Jersey Shore Ghost Tours
Location: Red Bank (Starts at The Dublin House)

Cost: $12 adults / $10 kids 10 and under
Description: This is the last walking lantern tour of Red Bank this year. Tickets will be available starting at 8:00 pm and tours will start at 8:30 pm, so there is time to enjoy a cold drink after you pick up your tickets. Tours will run approximately one hour rain or shine. Tickets are available to purchase at The Dublin House but to make a reservation please call 732-500-6262.

Nature Walk – November 8th from 2:00pm – 3:00pm. A fun and educational interactive tour of the wilds of Cattus Island County Park.
Live Animal Talks – November 9th from 11:00am – 1:30pm. Get an up close and personal look at the park inhabitants, learn about the species and meet the animals of Jakes Branch County Park.

Description: Former Air Force historian Russell Dutcher will share photos and research on how Professor Thaddeus Lowe and the Union Army Balloon Corps played an important role in the American Civil War . The Balloon Corps was organized as a civilian operation, which employed a group of prominent American aeronauts and seven specially built, gas-filled balloons to perform aerial reconnaissance on the Confederate States Army.The Balloon Corps was the precursor of the US Air Force and spawned the first aircraft carrier.
