Mother’s Day Wine Trail Weekend
New Jersey wineries are rolling out the red carpet for moms across the state for Mother’s Day weekend. On May 9th and 10th, the Garden State Wine Growers Association is hosting a “Mother’s Day Wine Trail” celebrating that very special woman in our lives.
“After being cooped up inside from a cold, and long winter, this event gives families across the state a chance to visit the vineyards of the state and treat Mom to a special weekend dedicated for her,” said John Cifelli, Executive Director of Garden State Wine Growers Association.
And if we know moms, maybe they’re looking for something besides flowers this year. So instead of flowers (or with them), bring her to nearly 40 wineries and vineyards across New Jersey to sample the wine made right in our backyard. Travelers along the trail can expect special wine tastings, live music, food pairings, and plenty of fragrant fresh flowers heralding the spring season.
“The vineyards are in bloom, many wineries will be giving flowers away, or complimentary tastings to the mothers in the party,” said Cifelli. “We want to make it all about her this weekend.”
Mother’s Day Wine Trail Weekend
The Garden State is bursting back to life as spring comes into full bloom. Monmouth and Ocean County wineries are blooming too, which makes Mother’s Day weekend the perfect time to visit some of our favorite local wineries.
At Laurita Winery in New Egypt moms are invited to come in for a day filled with delicious food, tasty wine, and music. Unfortunately, their Mother’s Day Brunch is sold out, but you can still enjoy a number of dishes from burrata to deli sandwiches and chocolate dipped strawberries in the Mother’s Day Marketplace.
And speaking of chocolate, what mom wouldn’t be happy celebrating her day with three of her favorite things: wine, chocolate, and you. The women at 4JG’s in Colts Neck felt the same way, which is exactly why they’re hosting a Mother’s Day Wine and Chocolate weekend. Let your mom soak it all in as she tastes award winning wines, artisan chocolates and even take part in a chocolate basket making demonstration. You can tell her how much she means to you as you stroll through the vineyards to watch the vines at budbreak. Kid of the year award!
For a mom that loves wine just as much as she loves food, bring her to Working Dog Winery in Hightstown where she’ll groove to music by Williamsboy while sampling delicious estate bottled wines. Get there from 11:00am – 2:00pm for a continental breakfast for just $10 (and includes 5 samples of wine) or enjoy delicious BBQ from the Oink and Moo food truck from 12:00pm – 5:00pm. When the food has been eaten and you still have some wine left, tour the vineyard and talk to the winemaker to learn what spring means in the vineyard.
Now maybe your mom wants something beyond just wine and since it’s Mother’s Day, we really can’t argue with her. Cream Ridge Winery in Allentown knows the drill, which is why they’re celebrating the release of their new 2015 Pinot Mojito that very weekend. Every mom receives a frozen mojito glass (with proof of child). Bring your lawn chairs and a picnic or grab a snack at one of their weekend food vendors while you listen to live music by Duo El Dorado.
So instead of buying mom that sad bouquet, take her on a taste of New Jersey where the wine is tasty, the food is delicious, and you’re just one more sip away from becoming the world’s best kid or husband! It’s a day made for moms and their families to enjoy each other and all of the wine that the Garden State has to offer.
