Latitudes On the River

Dinner and a spectacular view, that’s what Latitudes On the River (361 East Lacy Road, Forked River 609-242-2648) offers every single night of the week. As for the last week of Local Restaurant Month, that dinner includes four courses for just $27.95. We’re definitely starting off with the Artichoke Milanese that’s stuffed with goat cheese and then maybe we’ll go with the 14oz. NY Sirloin. Dinner could not get tastier.

On the Deck Restaurant

Hang out with the locals and make your way to On the Deck Restaurant (10 Simon Lake, Highlands 732-872-1424) for a menu that is definitely inspired by the Atlantic. Try out a summer favorite (who cares if it’s only spring) when you order the Shrimp Meltaways. This dish is loaded with shrimp, then smothered in mozzarella cheese, garlic, red onions, and paprika, and served on crispy garlic toast. If putting cheese with seafood is wrong, we don’t want to be right.

The French Market

One of our favorite new openings from 2014 is definitely The French Market (114 East River Road, Rumson 732-530-1692). Thanks to it’s French inspired desserts, coffees, and savory dishes, it’s become a part of our lunch routine. Whether you’ve been there or not, be sure to stop in before the 1st to enjoy their Local Restaurant Month specials, which include a French Onion soup, Quiche, Side Salad and French Lemonade for $12 or go with the Specialty French Sandwich, Soup, and Lemonade for a dollar more. Bon appétit.

Val’s Tavern

Just down the road is Val’s Tavern (123 East River Road, Rumson 732-842-3452), another local favorite that’s going big for the last days of Local Restaurant Month. Try out their famous Lobster Pizza, served mild or hot, along with a Tavern Salad and two glasses of house wine for just $29. And if you go there by yourself to eat it all, including the two glasses of wine, we won’t judge.

Wolfie’s Deli and Restaurant

Last, but certainly way not least, is yet another local favorite that continues to feed the masses for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At Wolfie’s Deli and Restaurant (199 Route 37 East, Toms River 732-244-9466) you get to choose a special from all three. From eggs, corned beef hash, home fries, toast, pancakes and bacon to a $15.99 dinner that would make the Irish proud (corned beef and cabbage), and their World Famous Reuben in between for under $14, you may want more, but chances are you won’t be able to fit anything else in your stomach.
