If you ask us what we’re eating this week, chances are it’s going to be one of the delicious items listed below that will be available all month long during Jersey Shore Local Restaurant Month. From dining at a true Red Bank icon for a fine dining experience to enjoying crispy and melty grilled cheeses to beginning the day with the breakfast of champions, there are countless ways to make sure that this month is tasty. Quickly becoming the number one foodie event at the Jersey Shore, Local Restaurant Month is hitting a grand slam with its combination of unique flavors, countless choices, and get ‘em while they’re hot prices.
B2 Bistro + Bar, Red Bank
The latest hot restaurant to hit Red Bank? B2 Bistro + Bar (141 Shrewsbury Avenue, Red Bank 732-268-8555). So when they decided to join Local Restaurant Month, we happily anticipated their menu, which does not disappoint. Take a long lunch this week and enjoy a three course prix fixe menu that includes new favorites like Escarole with sunchokes, smoked almonds, and preserved lemon, Charred Eggplant with arugula, piquillo peppers, and stracchino cheese, and of course homemade Lemon Curd because lunch without dessert is just not special enough.
Blend on Main, Manasquan
We’ve been huge fans of Chef Lou before he even opened Blend On Main (152 Main Street, Manasquan 732-223-0030), a Jersey Shore BYOB that serves up distinct flavors with seasonally inspired ingredients. This month, take advantage of the $25 per person special where you get to choose one small plate and one entrée or one entrée and one dessert (perfect for those who may favor savory versus sweet). We’re digging into the Hummus Plate featuring the “hummus of the day,” pickled veggies, and grilled lavash to start. As for our entrée, we’re still stuck between the Angus Short Rib braised in Chianti and the Stuffed Amish Capon (a rooster). Needless to say, two trips are in order…at least.
Eventide Grille, Sea Bright
As the temperatures starts to rise, all we want to do is dine by the water. This month, enjoy water views and the Local Restaurant Month pre fixe at Eventide Grille (1400 Ocean Avenue, Sea Bright 732-530-1414). For under $31, you can enjoy seafood specialties including their Seafood Pot Pie, a delicious culinary concoction of poached lobster, shrimp, and scallops combined with the traditional pot pie flavors served in a puff pastry. A recipe for the perfect spring dish.
Front Street Trattoria, Red Bank
At Front Street Trattoria (31 W. Front Street, Red Bank 732-747-9569), you’re not getting just one deal, but two this month. Whether you’re going there for lunch or dinner, there’s a special that is a pizza lover’s delight. For just $10, enjoy a lunch that includes a salad and your choice of pasta, pizzette or half faccoccio. Try out the classic Margherita Pizza served on a sesame crust (it’s one of our favorites.) For dinner, split a large pie and salad with a date for just $25. It’s a deal that can’t be beat!
The Peach Pit Café, Manasquan
The cute name drew us in, but the food kept us coming back, which is no surprise since The Peach Pit Café (152 Main Street, Manasquan 732-223-4748) is located inside Blend On Main and is basically the breakfast and lunch component of Chef Lou’s genius. During Local Restaurant Month, not only will you get a free peach cobbler with any lunch order, but also a complimentary short stack with any breakfast order. Yes, we’re serious.
Piero’s Restaurant, Union Beach
The recently renovated Piero’s Restaurant (1411 State Route 36, Union Beach 732-264-5222) has been transformed into a restaurant with dishes like Seared Chilean Sea Bass, Frutti di Mare, and Lobster Ravioli, all under new owner and Chef Michael Cacciuttolo. Find out what the new Piero’s is all about with their two course pre fixe dinner items that leave nothing to the imagination.
Siam Garden, Red Bank
Stepping into Siam Garden (2 Bridge Avenue, Red Bank 732-224-1233) is quite similar to being transported to Thailand, both in décor and flavor. A popular restaurant for lunch and dinner, during Local Restaurant Month you can enjoy specials no matter when you dine. However, if you happen to be heading there for dinner, don’t miss out on the Marinated Basa Fish wrapped in a banana leaf. Served with red curry coconut sauce, mixed vegetables, and jasmine rice, it’s a stand out.
Gametime Bar & Grill at iPlay America, Freehold
You may be asking yourself… iPlay? We can’t stress it enough, yes iPlay! The Gametime Bar & Grill has some of Monmouth County’s best pub food! Their Local Restaurant Month specials include the Dinosaur Bones pictured above. They’re slow roasted oversized beef short ribs that are a culinary treat! Not to be missed is their Surf & Turf Burger. It’s a 1/2 lbs CAB burger, topped with jumbo shrimp, micro greens, grilled pineapple, applewood bacon and a creamy tomato horseradish sauce, served on a brioche bun.
Taylor Sam’s, Brick
Offering breakfast and lunch staples that taste like they were cooked in a home kitchen (with a pro chef of course), Taylor Sam’s (1563 Route 88, Brick 732-458-7267) has quickly made their way into people’s stomachs. Choose from one of their Eggs Benedict Specials that change daily and range from the Buttermilk Chicken Benny with crispy southern fried chicken breast on a freshly cooked biscuit to the St. Patrick’s Benny with house braised corned beef on top of a fried potato croquette. If lunch is more your style, go Mexican with the taco specials all under $10. (We may even stay for both).
The Bonney Read, Asbury Park
Our favorite parade is happening right at The Bonney Read (533 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park 732-455-3352) and it has nothing to do with floats. Local Restaurant Month has ushered in the Lobster Parade. A lobster extravaganza where you can choose how much of this crustacean you want to enjoy. For $29 dine on Lobster Bisque, a Lobster Roll, and Gelato or up the ante for $10 more and you’ll get the same meal, but instead of a roll, it’ll be in the rough.
Molly Pitcher Inn, Red Bank
A true Red Bank icon, Molly Pitcher Inn (88 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank 732-747-2500) is not only a beautiful establishment, but the food is out of this world as well. Many know them for their brunch, but their dinner menu is just as worthy of your cravings. This month, enjoy a $30 pre fixe menu that ends with one of our favorite desserts, the Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brulee.
The Cheese Cave, Red Bank
It’s time to upgrade your normal sandwich routine to a “SandwiCHEESE” routine. During Jersey Shore Local Restaurant Month, our favorite Red Bank cheese shop, The Cheese Cave (14 Monmouth Street, Red Bank 732-842-0796), is making over your lunch with 30 cheesy, melty, delicious sandwicheeses in 30 days. This week, we’re looking forward to the St. Patty’s Day special with Irish Cheddar and an Oatmeal Stout Beer Jelly. It’s the luck of the Irish in a grilled cheese.
Waypoint 622, Brielle
Last, but certainly not least, Waypoint 622 (622 Green Avenue, Brielle 732-528-6665) is home to a pre fixe menu that has everything you could ask for, from Pork Cutlet Milanese that’s topped with a fresh salad of arugula, endive, and radicchio to an IPA Bacon appetizer, and even their Twin “Destination 622” Colossal Crab Cakes. This pre fixe is like no other you’ve ever had the pleasure to meet.
