World Premiers Featured at 8th Lighthouse International Film Festival

The setting for the 8th Annual Lighthouse International Film Festival (LIFF) couldn’t be more inspiring. Taking place for the 8th year in a row on one of the Jersey Shore’s most picturesque stretch of beaches, the LIFF, running from June 9-12th, has become an international epicenter bringing in filmmakers from across the globe to down the street.

“The event includes something for everyone,” said Christine Rooney, Managing Director of LIFF who shared that Q&A with the director will accompany all films. “From cutting edge documentaries to riveting narratives, madcap comedies, and engaging shorts.”

Praised by The Wall Street Journal and noted as “one of June’s don’t miss festivals” by IndieWire, those interested in enjoying all of the events over the course of four days can do so with the All Access Pass for just $99. (But hurry, the deal is only good until Monday, May 30th.

Film Premiers and Events During the Lighthouse International Film Festival

Hosted at the Long Beach Island Foundation for the Arts and Sciences (LBIF) in Loveladies, NJ, the festival’s films will open with Cameraperson, an acclaimed documentary focusing on the Syrian refugee crisis directed by Kirsten Johnson. On June 11th, attendees will enjoy the world premier of Kristian Kiehling’s documentary Chronicle of a Summer in Europe.

“It’s a true credit to the filmmakers,” said Rooney about LIFF hosting the world premier of Chronicle of a Summer in Europe. “LIFF is being credited as an outstanding film festival.”

In addition to almost 60 additional screenings films and short films from all over the world including Women Who Kill, the directorial debut of Ingrid Jungerman, and Director Ferne Pearlstein’s The Last Laugh, and Yesterday’s Fish, Today’s Challenges, a documentary focusing on the seafood production of Viking Village in Barnegat Light.

The All Access Pass includes admission to all screenings as well as access to daily Breakfast with the Filmmakers, moderated by New York Times film critic, Glenn Kenny, at Joe Pop’s Shore Bar, the Saturday Night Centerpiece Party in the Dutchman’s Brauhaus’ Sunset Lounge, and the Closing Night Party and Awards Ceremony at Dutchman’s Brauhaus.

New for 2016, LIFF announced the creation of Write By the Beach, a new writers retreat program for female filmmakers and screenwriter, designed to foster female voices in independent films. The inaugural event hopes to garner the large amount of talent at the Jersey Shore.

“There’s a lot of talent in Southern Ocean County,” said Rooney. “We are a incubator for a lot of local artists, filmmakers, and musicians.”
