Art Star Craft Bazaar Returns to Asbury Park This July

For the second year in a row, the Philadelphia based Art Star Craft Bazaar will be visiting Asbury Park. On the weekend of July 30 – 31st, artists from across the region will converge at the Jersey Shore bringing one-of-a-kind items that only the ladies of Art Star could put together.

Dedicated to bringing unique and quality handmade goods to Philadelphia for the past 13 years, owners Megan Brewster and Erin Waxman have taken the artistic world by storm, being named the “Best of Philly” by Philadelphia Magazine in 2010 and 2012. Inspiring their craft shows is their Philadelphia based brick and mortar store, Art Star, where the duo carefully selects every piece that the shop carries. From handmade clothing to inspiring paintings and everything in between, they’re bringing the same eye to Asbury Park’s Art Star Craft Bazaar.

Art Star Craft Bazaar Brings Unique Talent to the Jersey Shore

“For years we talked about expanding our Philly show to another location because the city always dies in the summer and we wanted to go where the people are – the beach,” said Waxman. After partnering with Move For Hunger, an Asbury Park based charitable organization that transforms moving into an opportunity to reduce food waste and feed the hungry, the Asbury Park Art Star Craft Bazaar made its successful debut last summer and is looking to bring even more talent to this year’s event.

This year, attendees will be able to peruse and shop at over 50 vendors from across the region (and beyond), all of which have been individually curated by Art Star. Brewster and Waxman go through vendor applications and carefully select a final group that would be as welcome in their store as in their Art Star Craft Bazaar.

“We put together the best group of artists possible that we feel represents Art Star,” said Waxman. “This is important for every show out there because customers will come to trust the overall aesthetic and quality of a particular show.”

In addition to vendors including Le Puppet Regime, a Philadelphia artist making stained glass marionettes; beautiful aerial photographs from Asbury Park photographer Claudia Chloe, and Audio Tree, a former sound engineer now amplifying your music with wood iPhone amps and cases, attendees will also enjoy live acoustic music, and a handful of food vendors including vegan and vegetable friendly food from Hello Chef from Long Branch in support of Move For Hunger. The event also just happens to coincide with the 7th Annual Visionary Tattoo Arts Festival that’s held in Convention Hall (talk about a great crowd!)

With so much to look forward to next month, above all Waxman is just hoping for “nice weather.” Here at the Jersey Shore, we can definitely provide just that – after all, they did go through all the trouble to bring us some of the most eclectic and original artists for an entire weekend.

The Art Star Craft Bazaar will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 10am – 7pm and Sunday, July 31st from 10am – 4pm in Bradley Park, Asbury Park on 5th Avenue between Kingsley Street and Ocean Avenue.
