There’s something to say when a family such as the DeRosa’s not only manage to stay in business for over a decade in one New Jersey’s most talked about seaside towns with their restaurant Savor Lounge in Seaside Heights. But when you’ve also excelled at offering your customers everything they could want when it comes to a five-star dining experience, from food to entertainment, you know it’s their special touch.
“We’re providing something that’s a little different than what you would expect in a seaside town,” said Nick DeRosa, who assists in managing Savor Lounge and is a part owner with his father, Carmine and brother, Carmine Jr. “We’re a block from the ocean, but our food is nothing like what’s on the boardwalk.”
After moving their popular Italian restaurant, Luna Rosa, to the current location, renaming it Savor Lounge, surviving Hurricane Sandy, offering bar foods such as burgers and wood fired pizza, the DeRosa family has finally gone back to focusing on their original niche – fine Italian dining with some American dishes and modern twists.
Now in their 11th year in Seaside Heights, the DeRosa family has reinvented Savor Lounge, refocusing on pairing delicious Italian dishes, such as their classic short rib dish and seafood specials that “fly out the door” with weekly entertainment for a crowd that can sometimes be left a bit behind.
“Savor Lounge focuses on the 30 plus crowd, which doesn’t get a lot of attention. We play a lot of disco, 80s, and dance music on Saturday nights. For the past nine years we’ve also been teaming up with Gerard Esposito who performs Rat Pack era classics making Sunday nights at Savor Lounge the go to destination at The Jersey Shore ,” said DeRosa. With a large outdoor courtyard, it’s not unheard of for a guest to book a table from 8-11pm, starting off with dinner, a glass of (reasonably priced) wine or pint of craft beer, followed by a few hours of dancing and people watching.
Due to their ideal location (just one short block from the beach!), many of their customers are true vacationers, visiting over the course of their stay at the beach, but they also attract regulars on an ongoing basis thanks to their cuisine, entertainment, and nightly specials.
Get off the beach a little early (and really, you probably should before you actually start to resemble a lobster) and take advantage of Savor Lounge’s $26.00 three-course pre-fixe menu. Available every afternoon from 4-6pm, it’s the ideal opportunity to sample what Savor Lounge has to offer.
During the “off-season,” Savor Lounge stays on, keeping its doors open to both diners and those looking for that perfect place to celebrate their event. From weddings to baby showers, Savor Lounge can fit up to 125 people comfortably and has absolutely no problem closing its doors to the public on a Saturday night just so you can host your perfect event.
“There aren’t many places in the area that are willing to give up any space, especially on the weekend,” said DeRosa. “Our catering packages are amazingly priced, starting at $28.95 per person and that’s for a Saturday night.”
Whether you’re visiting Seaside Heights or you’re a local who’s looking for that perfect night out on the town, Savor Lounge is the place you’ve been dreaming about. Savor Lounge remains unmatched when it comes to taste, sound, and experience, featuring the perfect combination of food and entertainment in a beautiful outdoor space.
