Whether you want to test out just how brave you actually are by visiting some of the state’s most horrifying haunted venues or just take part in some pumpkin carving and costume making, there’s a Jersey Shore Fall event that will make you smile as you put away your summer clothes and enjoy the what the season has to offer!
iPlay Spooky Family Fun, iPlay America, Freehold
Bring the family to iPlay America for some spooky family fun. From October 2nd to November 1st, kids can enjoy pumpkin decorating, a live magic show, a trick or treat trail, and even a special Halloween themed kids’ menu. Spooky and fun, we’re in.
Boo at the Boardwalk, Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, Pt. Pleasant Beach
The temperatures may have dropped, but that doesn’t mean that the party has gone down at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk. Boo at the Boardwalk (October 15-16 and 22-23) is an annual Jersey Shore Fall event for the whole family. Dress up in your best costume and enjoy kid-friendly attractions including face painting, a Beach Maze and even the 2nd Annual Perky’s Pumpkin Derby.
The Glow, Monmouth Park Racetrack, Oceanport
Halloween isn’t just for the young in age, it’s also for the young at heart and The Glow Event at Monmouth Park Racetrack is just the place to bring everyone in the family tree. Starting October 7th, you’ll be able to enjoy a little stroll down Jack’s Lane where over 5,000 jack o’lanterns will be illuminated. Celebrate the Jersey Shore at the event’s Jersey Jaunt, where famous landmarks, movie stars, and gangsters will be glowing with Jersey pride. Finally, wander into the prehistoric park where kids can come face to face with a 16-foot dinosaur and then escape through Captain Jack’s ghostly pirate ship. And for those 21 and up, check out “Sip and Carve” where you’ll get 75 minutes of instruction with a master carver and two glasses of wine to get those creative juices glowing.

Oktoberfest, Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten, Asbury Park
No one does October quite like the Germans. If you’re looking for all the beer, polka, bratwurst, and lederhosen that a traditional Oktoberfest offers, look no further than the Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten, the Jersey Shore’s very own small slice of Germany. The second annual Asbury Park Oktoberfest features a bier run, the best polka bands in the area, a premium selection of the “most authentischen” biers, Oktoberfest “Olympics,” and more. It’s a Jersey Shore fall event that’s not to be missed.
Brookdale Haunted Theater- Lincroft
Every year the annual Haunted Theatre is designed, built, and run by current and former Brookdale Community College Performing Arts students. Meet Captain Jack Sparrow, Jersey Shore Pirate Adventures, Brick
This fall, meet one of the world’s most legendary (and funny) pirates, Captain Jack Sparrow on October 16 as you set sail on The Sea Gypsy II. Get dressed up in your favorite costume for a chance to win best dressed or favorite costume. It’s a trip on a pirate ship that won’t end in losing all your booty!
Oktoberfest, Seaside Heights
Can there really ever be enough Oktoberfests? We don’t think so, which is why we’re taking part in Seaside Heights two-day Oktoberfest from October 22-23rd. The festival kicks off with a tap of the keg and then in comes the German food, seasonal craft beer tasting, bands, artisans, and the ultimate kids zone.
Trick or Treat Street and Howl-O-Ween
October 23 Sunday, 12 Noon to 5 PM on the Boardwalk. FREE admission, prizes, fun for everyone including pumpkin decorating, dog parade and kids’ costume parade, trick or treating, and pumpkin chunkin’ competition. Details in the link above

The Historic Village at Allaire
From evening performances of Edgar Allan Poe and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, to Haunted Hayrides and a Haunted Village (including an invite to Mr. Allaire’s house), there’s something for everyone this fall at the Historic Village at Allaire. One of our favorite events is on October 30th from 11am – 4pm where the public is invited to join in a 19th Century All Hallow’s Eve featuring the early traditions of Halloween.
Haunted Seaport, Tuckerton Seaport
From October 22-24th, Tuckerton Seaport, the ghost ships of Tuckerton Creek dock turning this beautiful seaport into a “spooktacular adventure.” Find your way through haunted woods, greet the Jersey Devil, set sail on the Black Pearl, or even enjoy a concoction from the Voodoo Witch Doctor… if you dare. For the little ones there are even plenty non-scary activities including a pumpkin patch, crafts, stories, and games.

Highlands Oktoberfest, Highlands
Another annual event takes over the Jersey Shore on October 1st. Experience authentic German and Bavarian culture with all the fixings (bratwurst, potato pancakes, beer), polka dancers, and of course face painting and a bouncy house to keep the kids busy.
A Time to Kiln, Red Bank
Bring the kids or some crafty friends and decorate your very own “cauldron” at A Time to Kiln in Red Bank. Whether you fill it with chocolates, candy corn, or fruit it’s up to you and there’s no need to share it with trick or treaters… don’t worry, we won’t tell.
Marlboro Zombie Breakout, C. Casola Farms in Marlboro
Now for those looking to get a little psychotic this fall, Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital is coming back to life after being demolished last year. C. Casola Farms is recreating the madness, turning the patients into zombies. Sounds like an actual nightmare. (For those looking to sleep at night, there’s also C. Casola’s Fall Fest full of pumpkins, happy scarecrows, and treats.)
Nightmare at Gravity Hill Haunted Trail, Jackson
If you’re looking to see your biggest nightmares come to life, check out Nightmare at Gravity Hill Haunted Trail every weekend leading up to Halloween. You’ll have to use your legs, even though they may want you to run, as you wander through the woods encountering spine-chilling scenes. An extra pair of pants may be necessary.
Camp Evans Base of Terror, Wall
Known for being a site that has some mysterious history (top secret research that is still classified), Camp Evans turns into what everyone fantasizes it may have been. Take a ½ mile walk through this 100-year old Army base, single file, as you get a glimpse into the terrifying past. This all volunteer effort not only brings the chills, but all funds are donated to the historic base in order to preserve the grounds and keep those thrills and questions coming.
Atlantic Frightlands, Atlantic Highlands
For just two nights (October 21-22nd), take a 45-minute tour of this Jersey Shore town, hunting ghosts in the town’s most notorious paranormal “hot spots.” It’s the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit and get to know some of the area’s most known spirits.
Scary Rotten Farms, Brick Twp.
For 2016, Scary Rotten Farms is doubling the screams with two attractions: Sinister Sneed’s Chaotic Carnival of Chaos and The Forbidden “The Inbred & Nearly Dead.” If the names don’t scare you, then it sounds like you’re the perfect candidate to test your vocal chords every weekend in October.
