The French Market Is A Parisian Dream Set On the Streets of Rumson

At first glance, The French Market in Rumson is cute, well actually, it’s absolutely and adorably inviting. A black and white awning, rustic white wood, it almost feels like the streets of Paris were transported to the streets of Rumson. However, despite it’s small town location, The French Market is actually quite otherworldly.

“I’ve been dreaming about this lifestyle concept for many years now, wanting to instill the feeling that I adore with everyone who walks through the door,” said Carli Windsor. “I want them to see it, taste it, and smell it.”

One step inside and you’ll realize that Windsor absolutely nailed it. The shop is a peek inside of Windsor’s mind, and what a beautiful mind she has. The French Market is filled with the aromas of fresh baked croissants, warm bread, and fresh flowers.

The eyes tend to go right to the food counter once you walk in the door (those smells just can’t be ignored) where you can order anything and everything from hot omelets, sweet and savory crepes, classic baguette sandwiches, and of course, some sweets. You can even order your very own small plate of cheese or charcuterie – bottle of champagne and a view of the Eiffel Tower are sold separately. If you’re looking to impress your guests or need a platter to bring to a party, The French Market can create large plates too, filled with the best French cheeses, meats, bread, and pastries this side of the Atlantic. They also fill out their repertoire with full off-site catering including 7-course meals, delicious!

But, this small piece of Paris is not just about the food. Yes, the smell of that 9 Grain Croissant is captivating, but it’s worth it to pull yourself away from the counter to take a stroll through the rest of the shop. Full of treasures from her travels throughout Europe, Windsor displays everything that makes her swoon (if you’re looking for a day dream just scroll through her Instagram page). From the best-imported French sea salts, pates, and mustards to Biltong, a 400-year old South African beef jerky that’s organic and extremely popular – sorry the word is out now!

A little bit further inside, you’ll find their greenhouse, filled with antiques from her travels featuring both European and American artists, along with everything you need to outfit your home and garden with Windsor’s captivating vision. There are plenty of one-of-a-kind items that are perfect for gifts. And if you’re just too busy, leave it to the professionals. The French Market will use their expertise to curate small to large gifts for everyone from corporate gifts to hostess gifts and even gifts for family and friends.

“This is my passion, my creative outlet, my dream,” said Windsor of The French Market. “I want everyone who comes in to be transported to a little café in Paris.”
