Jump, Run, and Play Into Spring With the Help of the Monmouth County Park System

After a long winter, there’s no place that represents the changing of seasons quite like Monmouth County parks. The trees are beginning to bud, the flowers are emerging, and the signs of spring are everywhere, bird chirping included! Luckily for us, the Jersey shore is home to the Monmouth County Park System, which offers so much to see and do throughout the year for all ages.

Spring Activities In The Monmouth County Park System

As spring emerges, more and more activities spring into action. It’s a great time to tie up your sneakers, dust off those golf clubs, and grab the family for some outdoor fun. Below is just a sneak peak at what’s offered this spring:

Camping
With 64 campsites, 52 of which can be reserved, as well as three cabins, Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold is a destination right in your own backyard. There’s no need to travel far to ensure a memorable camping experience.

Kayaking, Boating, and Fishing
Check out the many freshwater and saltwater locations that are perfect for casting your line or exploring the shores with your kayak or canoe. Boat access is available to enjoy a day on the water at a variety of Monmouth County parks.

Golf
The Monmouth County Park System offers eight courses in six locations, which include five championship courses, two 18-hole executive courses, and a nine-hole par three course. There’s something for golfers of all skill levels.

Trails
Hikers, walkers, bikers, and runners rejoice! Monmouth County parks offers over 130 miles of trails to explore throughout county. Monmouth County Park System trails are rated based on the difficulty level and/or type of trail: easy, moderate, challenging, paved, fitness or nature.

Historic Sites
Enjoy a little bit of history when you visit one of the Monmouth County Park System’s two historic sites. Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel brings families back to the sights, sounds and smells of rural Monmouth County in the 1890s with interpreters in period dress demonstrating agricultural and domestic activities. Then there’s Historic Walnford in Upper Freehold, which demonstrates the evolution of the Waln family property from an 18th century industrial village and family farm to an elegant country estate.
