Blue Moon Yoga’s Teacher Training Program Focuses On Cultivating Individual Strength and Compassion

Have you ever found yourself in Downward Dog and thought, maybe I should become a yoga teacher? If the answer is yes (or even a maybe), you’re in for a great upcoming opportunity. This fall, Jersey Shore yogis will have the chance to learn from some of the best teachers on the East coast, as Blue Moon Yoga will be hosting its 16th RYS 200 Yoga Alliance Yoga Teacher Training Program beginning in September.

Every month from September through April, inspiring yoga teachers will build on their practice and gain the confidence and knowledge to teach others. Eva Leobold, E-RYT 500, CRT, owner of Blue Moon Yoga and lead teacher will explore traditional Hatha yoga asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), appropriate alignment, the subtle energy system (chakras and nadis), philosophy, and spirituality. Through Blue Moon Yoga’s Padme Yoga Teacher Training, practitioners of yoga will deepen their practice, while gaining a stronger understanding of how to share their practice with others.

“With no more than ten students per training, everyone gets a true personal experience,” said Leobold. “Students’ hours are with instructors, not at home with a DVD. We help our YTT students find their authenticity as a teacher so they can be creative and unique.”

Leobold, who has been practicing yoga since 1990, teaching since 1998, and training other teachers since 2006, is certified in Soma Yoga and Prana Yoga. She’s also a Reiki Master Teacher, a Level 2 Thai Bodywork Practitioner, and currently in a Mudra Teacher Certification Training, which she is excited to pass onto her students. Since 2006, she’s been a Certified Yoga Alliance teacher at the E-RYT 500 level, which means she has more than 500 hours of education and at least 2,000 hours of teaching experience (so it’s practically a guarantee that all of her YTT students will gain a lot from her!)

Unlike other YTT trainings, Leobold wrote the program with her co-director at the time, resulting in a blend of Soma Yoga Training featuring traditional postures, alignment, and individual modifications with Prana Yoga Training that features more of a focus on traditional postures, resulting in a training that is accessible to everyone.

“Our intention is to help individuals first learn deep compassion for themselves and then take that compassion out into the world, especially in acceptance of everyone who wants to take up the practice of yoga,” said Leobold.

Blue Moon Yoga’s Padme Yoga Training truly focuses on the individual. YTT students are given the information they need to understand how traditional alignment techniques may not fit every body and then how to help each individual achieve what they are looking for in their yoga practice.

Blue Moon Yoga YTT Graduates Go Beyond the Studio

Graduates of Blue Moon Yoga’s YTT Padme Program have gone on to do much more than just teach yoga, from setting up a “for credit” yoga curriculum at Brookdale Community College to founding Mettamade Pop Up Yoga Events, founding their own studios including Bella Buddha Yoga in Belmar, and even Yoga University, which helps children achieve success in school through empowering exercises. (And for many YTT graduates, it’s an opportunity to deepen their own personal practice – after all, teaching yourself is important for self-discovery.)

“When I first started teaching yoga, it never occurred to me that I would ever train teachers. When I first started training teachers, it never occurred to me that so many would go out to such great and important things in our community,” reflected Leobold. “I am so grateful, so overjoyed and completely humbled at what these people have achieved and are achieving every day.”
