The Race of Gentlemen Brings Back Roadsters and Motorcycles to the Shores of Wildwood Beach for 2019

The Race of Gentlemen Brings Back Roadsters and Motorcycles to the Shores of Wildwood Beach for 2019

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time of year again!t Imagine the rumbling of engines, the excitement of the starting line, the salty sea air… yes, it’s that time of year again when the wheels hit the sandy road. The Race of Gentlemen is heading back to Wildwood on October 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.

Paying homage to the history of classic automobiles and motorcycles, the thrilling race celebrates American racing heritage in a dazzling displaying on the water’s edge of Wildwood in what has become known as the greatest race on earth.

What started in 1947 with eight young California men whose passion for roadsters, custom cars, and speed turned into a movement that would define racing for decades to come. With the help of their first president, Jim Nelson, the Oilers Car Club assisted in forming the National Hot Rod Association, the San Diego Timing Association, and even hosted some of the nation’s first drag racing events.

That same love of hot rods brought together another generation of men in 2008, when Nelson passed the torch on to a new chapter in the Oilers famous history. Now, a new brotherhood of 10 hand-picked members hailing from coast to coast keep the tradition alive, showcasing their impressive automobile collection in classic races held only two times per year. Despite a new generation, the Oilers Club remains dedicated to the original creed – building machines for speed, endurance and beauty, in an effort to keep this time honored sport of competition alive and well.

If you’re a fan of classic roadsters, motorcycles, the beach, or all three, this is an event that’s not to be missed. Check out classic American hot rods that are built to showcase not only their beauty, but their ability to speed down the sandy straightaway. On October 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th you will get your chance to go on a time warp, where these classic roadsters and motorcycles roar to life feet from the surf and bring back a time when “guys were gentlemen and cars were king.”

Online pricing for full weekend passes are available for adults ($50.00 each) and children ages 7-15 ($15.00 each). Children under seven are free. To purchase tickets online click here.  Children 7 to 15 are $15 for a full weekend pass and children under 6 are free.

About TROG

TROG isn’t an invention. It’s been happening well before our founders were born, but now it has a name and a place in the foreground of modern culture. TROG taps into something primal and emotional. An escape from an impressively mundane world, offering mechanical reprieve from its backlit, binary grip. TROG events are real, jarring and built on the strongest, sappiest foundation of all… friendship. A weekend retreat with late nights and early mornings, where you laugh and yell and experience nature in the strangest possible way. A reminder that most admirable aspects of humanity have yet to die off.

About The Oilers Car Club

Founded by Jim Nelson in Southern California over 65 years ago, The Oilers Club, was a small group of thrill-seeking friends that built and raced hot rods and motorcycles using outdated pre-WWII era chassis, bodies, motors and parts. In 2010, the keys to the club were handed to Meldon Van Riper Stultz III, a Jersey Shore native who, with his colorful crew of vintage car and motorcycle revivalists, now stage these rolling exhibitions at historically significant locations across the country.
