A Jersey Shore Foodie’s Guide to Breakfast and Brunch Restaurants in Monmouth and Ocean

According to your doctor, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. As self-proclaimed breakfast and brunch enthusiasts, we ate through dishes of pancakes, waffles, eggs, and bagels to bring you this list of some of our favorite Jersey Shore Breakfast and Brunch restaurants in Monmouth and Ocean County. Please note that some of these places are open for breakfast every day, while others may only serve brunch on weekends and during certain seasons.

This task was not an easy one. New Jersey is a state that prides itself on its ability to master the pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwich, the bagel, and every diner specialty you can imagine. There are also a number of great places that are putting their own spin on those classic dishes.

If we’ve missed your favorite, let us know in the comments! Because we could always use suggestions for more Jersey Shore breakfast and brunch spots to visit and indulge.

Our Guide to Jersey Shore Breakfast and Brunch Restaurants

If you’re looking for a great restaurant with excellent brunch food and a wicked view, then Beach Tavern is the place for you! Come out for their Sunday Brunch; Beach Tavern opens at 11am on Sundays, and we promise you won’t be disappointed! Enjoy their delicious foods and drinks while gazing out across the water, no matter what time of year it is. 33 West Street, Monmouth Beach (732) 870-8999 http://beachtavern.net/

Well known for having one of the best Jersey Shore breakfast and brunches in the area, The Molly Pitcher Inn’s Sunday Brunch is extravagant. Reserve your table early for a chance to dine on traditional breakfast dishes like au gratin potatoes, made to order omelettes and bacon while also enjoying the more decadent dishes like poached salmon, leg of lamb, and oysters and clams on the half shell. The Molly’s sister hotel, the Oyster Point Hotel is just down the road and also has a wonderful brunch like the dish featured above. Check out the Oyster’s breakfast menu here. 88 Riverside Ave, Red Bank (732) 747-2500 http://themollypitcher.com and 146 Bodman Place, Red Bank 732.702.3132 http://www.theoysterpointhotel.com/

Whether you wake up craving sweet or savory, Toast has you covered every day of the week with their selection of omelettes, pancakes, bennys, and more. Something about Toast has the locals positively obsessed with it. We’re thinking it might be the Red Velvet Pancakes or one of daily specials like the one featured above. . 517 Cookman Avenue Asbury Park (732) 776-5900; 45 Monmouth St, Red Bank (732) 224-1234

(SEASONAL) Here’s something to look forward to as the days grow shorter and the cool air starts blowing through our hair. After the craziness of the summer is behind us, head to Rooney’s where they offer a lavish brunch buffet once the fall begins that includes a raw bar station, carving station, seafood options, classic breakfast items, and more. Not to mention one of the greatest ocean views on the Shore all year long!  100 Ocean Ave, Long Branch (732) 870-1200 http://www.rooneysocean.com/

Enjoy an all you can eat Sunday brunch with views of the scenic Shark River inlet at Klein’s Waterside Cafe. Watch as boats go while you delve into the extensive buffet stocked with everything from a carving station, made to order omelets, crab legs, pasta dishes and smoked salmon. 708 River Road, Belmar (732) 681-1177  http://www.kleinsfish.com/

Some mornings, a cup of coffee and a doughnut are all you need for a fast breakfast. We dare you to walk into Broad Street Dough Co. and come out with just one doughnut. All it takes is one look at all the options with combinations of delectable toppings, from a simple “vlugen” (vegan and gluten free) doughnut, to a red velvet doughnut piled high with caramel, chocolate chips, cannoli cream, and maybe some Reese’s cups for good measure. 2005 NJ-35, Oakhurst (732) 531-1401 http://www.broadstreetdoughco.com/

From the creators of Patricia’s (you know you love their pizza), comes delicious breakfast food thanks to Over Easy Kitchen. With two locations (one in Marlboro and one in Holmdel), you can expect double the pleasure. Whether you’re diving into some Quinoa Cakes (pictured above), or a Spicy Crab Benny, it’s easy to enjoy it (but, not easy to pick just one!) 460 County Road 520, Marlboro Twp. 732-526-4422 http://overeasykitchen.com/

If you can finish what’s on your plate at Comfi, then you have bigger stomachs than most people we know. The portion sizes are huge and it’s hard not to stuff yourself silly with dishes like the Alaskan Tortilla (pictured above) or the Loaded Pierogi Omelette that makes our Polish heritage proud. Every bite is better than the next and you’ll always be greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. How is that to start your day? 707 Main Street, Belmar 732-749-3583

Featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, as well as a James Beard Foundation Award winner, there are plenty of famous reasons to love Mustache Bill’s, but for us (and for countless locals), it’s the classic American breakfast dishes in an old fashioned diner that keep us coming back pancake after omelet, after egg in a pancake… we could go on and on. W 8th Street, Barnegat Light 609-494-0155

Once Mother’s Day comes around, locals head to one of the Jersey Shore’s best breakfast places. Thanks to it’s prime location (on the Avon boardwalk) and it’s delicious breakfast dishes, it’s a reason to dive into some pancakes with the sea breeze in your hair. (Be sure to get here during the summer months before they close up shop for the winter!) 600 Ocean Avenue, Avon-By-The-Sea 732-775-1043 https://www.avonpavilion.com/

We can hardly fit one of Cardinal Provisions ultimate dishes – Chicken and Waffles – in the picture – just try fitting it in your mouth! Along with this creation, there’s plenty more to choose from too. If you can tear away from the menu for a second, be sure to fill your table with some pastries to share, and then find that perfect photo op of you jamming your face full of all the good stuff. 513 Bangs Avenue, Asbury Park 732-899-7194 http://www.crdnal.com/

When your motto is “Home of the Myth,” it’s hard not to be curious. Follow the trail of locals to Klotz’s Kitchen, where you’ll find a menu that’s a little overwhelming (you’ll want to order everything), but after you order the Eggs Benedict Florentine that’s has a hidden layer of sausage patties under that sauce, you’ll be back so don’t stress about it too much! 2247 Bridge Avenue, Pt. Pleasant 732-714-0633 http://klotzskitchen.com
