In addition to our Monmouth and Ocean County edition to the Jersey Shore’s Best Breweries, we compiled a list of our favorite South Jersey Breweries! No matter what season it is at the shore, you can guarantee a wide array of breweries and microbreweries will be open to showcase their unique and wide variety of specialty beers. We can’t wait to see what new brewery pops up near us next!

MudHen Brewing Company – Cape May

Mudhen Brewing Company is located in the heart of Wildwood. Their brewery is dedicated to producing high-quality craft beers using the finest ingredients and brewing techniques. Ship Bottom Brewery – Beach Haven

Flying under the radar since the summer of 1995, Ship Bottom Brewery is a small-batch brewing facility on Long Beach Island that’s been in high demand for years! Rob Zarko had been creating beers in the garage of his Pennsylvania home, 40 barrels a year and 13 different styles and counting. With its vibrant colored labeling all inspired by life on the island, we crave the Barnacle Bottom Stout this time of year, full-flavored and chocolaty. Slack Tide Brewing Company – Cape May

Slack Tide Brewing Company was founded by two brothers who had grown up in the Cape May County area. Winning a Critic’s Choice Award by Craft Beer and Brewing Magazine in the past, Jason and Tadhg have a simple approach to their brews: invest in the freshest ingredients and promote local components whenever possible. Flagship staples include their 5 Tipsy Dipsy, Bell Buoy Blonde Ale, and the Angry Osprey IPA, which are all loved year round by locals. Pinelands Brewing Company – Little Egg Harbor

A nano-brewery that creates beers “As Pure As The Pines,” the Pinelands Brewing Company prides themselves in using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. One of the most important ingredients in beer is water, which Jason Chapman sources from an aquifer that’s part of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance. Garden State Beer Company – Galloway

After building their own brewhouse in Galloway, Garden State Beer Company is a large, beautiful space with six rotating beers and plenty of board games too! Between three owners, a scientist, computer engineer, and retired military officer, their passion for homebrewing is apparent in their featured brews on tap. They focus on well-balanced beers with hopes of convincing the reluctant beer drinker that there’s a style for everyone: Cream of the Crop cream ale drinks crisp and clean, and Nucky’s Empirial IPA is definitely for the strong beer lover with a nectar-rich malt backbone. Ludlam Island Brewery – Ocean View

Named for the barrier island in southern New Jersey, off the beaten path is Ludlam Island Brewery: a combination of beer lovers, passion, and big dreams. Open daily for tastings, the friendly atmosphere makes it easy to stop here a few times a week and chat with the owners about their delicious brews. Harry’s Coffee Pale Ale is a local favorite that utilizes Harry and Beans Organic Coffee Roasters next door with a blend of Honduran coffee and rye-based pale ale. Tuckahoe Brewing Company – Egg Harbor Township

Tuckahoe Brewing Co. brews what they love in Egg Harbor Township. Visit them in their tasting room trying one of their many great beers like The New Old School IPA or the Quatrain India Pale Ale. Hidden Sands Brewing Company – Egg Harbor Township

Somers Point Brewing Company – Somers Point

Somer’s Point Brewing Co. is an independent craft brewery concentrating on small batch beers, with an emphasis on premium ingredients, quality, and flavor. The brewery consists of a 7-barrel brewing system capable of producing approximately 217 gallons of beer per batch. Coho Brewing Co. – Cape May

Coho Brewing Co began with a dream that started with Karen Buckingham’s husband’s love for craft beer. Instead of retiring, Karen started a business. Buckingham and her husband went to Wildwood High where they were high school sweethearts, but now live in Cape May Court House. Their love for life and having a good time sparked the idea for a new business venture in the still-growing craft beer industry. The name COHO came about because of its location in COurt HOuse and as an homage to the Court House/Legal theme of the brewery. Cold Spring Brewery – Cape May

In early 2014, the Historic Cold Spring Village Foundation Board of Trustees voted unanimously to pursue the development of a small brewery on the Village grounds with the name Cold Spring Brewery. In keeping with the mission of the HCSV, an 1804 three bay English-style Cape May County barn from Upper Township was purchased. This non-profit microbrewery now sits on the parcel of the 30 acres that are located between Seashore Road and Route 9 in Cold Spring, containing 27 restored historic structures. Behr Brewing – Cape May

Behr Brewing opened not too long ago in 2021 in their blue building that sits on Seashore Road across from Church’s Nursery. Their tasting room is open and airy with a few touches of that industrial look. For those who would much rather lounge than hang out at the bar, well they have that too with a few couches to leisure on. Gusto Brewing – North Cape May

Gusto Brewing is New Jersey’s Southernmost Brewery and Taproom located in Cape May. Their Taproom, Beer Garden and cans-to-go are rockin’ and rollin’ this summer and are waiting for you to come on in. The brewery is first come first served and their draft menu is available in 10oz and 16oz pours. Angelsea Aleworks – Wildwood

Located in the heart of Wildwood, NJ, Anglesea Aleworks is Cape May County’s newest brewery! Located on New Jersey Avenue just beneath the bowling alley between Oak and Schellenger Avenues. Cape May Brewing Company – Cape May

In 2011, the three founders opened their microbrewery in a vacant warehouse at Cape May Airport and it became the first brewery of Cape May County. Decorated with a vibrant flow chart explaining the brewing process from the start of malted grains to the barrel, the tasting room is both spacious and inviting.
