One of our favorite activities year-round is to stop at a local bar and grab a drink and a snack before heading home. In other terms, we love trying out the best Jersey Shore happy hours and exploring the best and tastiest deals!
Yes, they’re a great way to hang out with friends and coworkers, but they’re also an opportunity to try out a restaurant in a very inexpensive way. Since not all Jersey Shore happy hours are created equally, we’ve taken the liberty to do the research and have rounded up our favorites so you can get the best bang for your buck.
We’ve hit every aspect of happy hour, from the view, the booze, the food, and of course the most important question – is it a good deal? With these spots, it’s a resounding yes.
Here’s to the happiest hours of the week! (Check out our favorite Ocean County Jersey Shore Happy Hours here!)
Jersey Shore Happy Hours in Monmouth County
800 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park
If you’ve never been to this boardwalk staple, happy hour will give you a taste of what a night out in Havana would be like. You’ll find us here every Wednesday and Thursday enjoying half-priced bottles of wine and appetizers, turning happy hour into happy hours.
Lake Avenue, Asbury Park
Beer, beer, and more beer! Known for having one of the best import beer selections around, Festhalle is also home to a pretzel like no other. If the weather is nice, head up to the rooftop with views of the Atlantic, or stay inside for some German music. They also have one of the best industry nights around. Proste!
33 West Street, Monmouth Beach
Head to this restaurant on the water on Sundays to kick off the work week with their all-day happy hour, or just celebrate any work day with their happy hours specials from 12-7pm. Take a little trip to Mexico without the airfare on Taco Tuesdays, where you’ll enjoy $5 tacos and $5 margaritas. Thirsty Thursdays give way to half price wines by the glass and there are plenty of food specials (including oysters – yes, even Happy Hours can be decadent!).
1200 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park
Get to Stella Marina early before both the first AND second bars fill up. Everything from your favorite cocktails, wines, beers, and flavorful Italian appetizers are all a happy hour special, everyday from 3:00 – 6:00pm. Stay in the action at the downstairs bar or go for the elevated ocean view upstairs. Either way, you’re winning.
71 Brighton Avenue, Long Branch
One word of advice when you head to Mix – the martinis are strong and the appetizers are necessary. Mix can make any day of the week better, even Monday with their all night happy hour. You choose the liquor, they’ll make it extraordinary.
1072 Ocean Avenue, Sea Bright
Monday through Friday from 4pm to 7pm, visit Dive! in Sea Bright for a happy hour that’s packed with drink and food specials. Pick your poison with specials on Fruit Infused Martinis, “big” glasses of wine, and beers that go exceptionally well with the $6 food menu! Try out one of our favorite pairs to order: the pineapple martini with a side of jalapeno cheese fries. It makes us very happy.
27 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch
Get as happy as your average Italian at one of the most elegant and delicious Jersey Shore happy hours around. All day, every sunday Sunday, and from 3:30pm to 6:30pm on weekdays (including Friday), you can dine like Sophia Loren and Vittorio Gassman. 660 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park
The lounge at Taka’s brand new location right on Cookman Avenue in downtown Asbury Park is one of our favorite new places to enjoy a much needed happy hour cocktail after work. Sit down at the bar for specials not only on the usual wine, vodka drinks, and of course Japanese beer, but also on Taka’s Sake Sangria. Just be sure to order a few rolls to go along with it so it doesn’t “sake” you out.
2 West Front Street, Keyport
With happy hour specials like $1.75 domestic drafts, $2 domestic bottles, and $3 mixed drinks, it’s no wonder why McDonagh’s Pub has been a go-to bar in the Bayshore area for the last decade! 100 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch
Whether it’s 90 and sunny out or 20 and snowing, Rooney’s is the spot to sip on a cocktail, eat some fancy appetizers like their PEI Mussels on special, and watch the waves come in. It’s our happy place.

115 Brighton Avenue, Long Branch
If it’s the middle of the week, you should be resting on a bar seat at Trama’s Trattoria. It’s a chance to try out some of their dishes for just $10. Pair it with a glass of $5 Nero d’Avola or $3 beers and it’s a recipe for happiness.
123 E. River Road, Rumson
Established in 1942, Val’s Tavern knows how to turn your frown upside down. 20 beers on tap, $3 specials on 16 oz. drafts, and $5 food specials. Seriously, they’ve been around for this long because they make people smile.
Walt Street Pub
180 Monmouth Street, Red Bank
If you’ve ever taken the train to or from Red Bank you’ve probably familiar with The Walt St. Pub. It’s a common watering hole for residents of Red Bank’s West Side, and for the unlucky (or dare we say lucky) NJ Transit riders who missed their train. WSP is exactly what you’d want in a watering hole; unpretentious, cheap beer and some great sandwiches! With happy hour specials like $2 domestic drafts, we may have to “miss” our train a few more times!
